Independent Consultant | Nigeria

Yeside Kazeem is a qualified actuary and fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries. 

She has spent over 10 years working in the insurance and pension industries within Nigeria, United Kingdom and France. 

Yeside is currently an independent consultant but started her career with Citibank where she carried out foreign exchange transactions as well as traded government securities on behalf of the bank and its customers. 

She joined Deloitte in 2004 where she worked within the pension actuarial team and was involved in activities such as design and modification of pension arrangements.  She carried out calculation and review of pension accounting figures for balance sheet, in particular providing advice under International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).  Her role also included carrying out risk evaluation of pension scheme liabilities for due diligences reports, in various sectors and countries, highlighting, quantifying and proposing solutions for risks identified.   

At Deloitte, Yeside also worked as an investment actuarial consultant where she advised trustees of pension funds on formulating and developing Asset Liability Modeling strategies based on their objectives. Assessing investment risks resulting from different investment strategies and their impact on the profit and loss and balance sheet. She assisted them with research on assets managers to determine the nature of the products offered as well as the fit to needs of the pension fund. 

Her time at Deloitte also extended to her consulting as an Insurance Actuary. She worked on Solvency II regulations within in the UK market, assisted insurance companies with mergers and acquisitions including providing support to firms on their entry into a number of Africa countries. 

This led to her return to Nigeria in 2014 with Old Mutual where she was their Actuarial Executive as well as Chief Risk Officer.  Her role there involved leading on pricing, product development and valuation. She was also involved in developing strategies for penetrating the retail market including Bancassurance strategies.
