Jonathan is a qualified actuary by background with the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries, UK. He heads up the Employee Benefits, Insurance, Risk and Capital Management teams of H R Nigeria Limited, a leading firm of independent Consulting Actuaries in Nigeria. He provides consulting services including Asset Liability Management strategies to most of the Closed Pension Fund Administrators in Nigeria, in addition to actuarial consulting to the Pensions Commission in Nigeria (“PenCom”), the National Health Insurance Scheme (“NHIS”) and the insurance regulator, NAICOM.

He performs actuarial valuations and consulting services to the majority of life, general insurers and Health Maintenance Organisations (“HMO”) in Nigeria.

Jonathan has previously worked for the Zurich Insurance Group and Royal London, both in the UK heading up various teams including Strategy, Planning & Performance Management; Financial Reporting; Pricing and indeed as an Enterprise Risk Based Capital expert.   

Prior to this, Jonathan worked as an actuarial consultant at NBC Holdings Limited in South Africa where he led a team that provided consultancy to the South African Government Employee Pension Fund (“GEPF”), the Namibian Government Institutions Pension Fund, Swaziland Electricity Board as well as the Unemployment Insurance Fund of South Africa. In this role he led the completion of the first Asset Liability Modelling exercise for the GEPF. He also provided Employee Benefit consulting services to various blue chip companies in Southern Africa.  

Jonathan is an avid promoter of actuarial science in Africa and is involved in various mentoring programs to future actuaries on the continent.
