Managing Director, Mexican National Savings Commission (CONSAR) | Mexico City

Alejandro Maldonado, Managing Director, at the Mexican National Savings Commission (CONSAR) that regulates and supervises more than 55 million retirement savings accounts. He is a key player in the decisions making of innovation projects, such as: improving regulation to introduce security and operational measures to protect the accounts; implementing electronic files, biometric authentication and remote services; enhancing operational transactions monitoring; and promoting financial inclusion, including programs to facilitate the reception of domestic deposits through commercial establishments and mobile phones.

Mr. Maldonado has over ten years of experience in Operational and Technology Risk regulation and supervision. He started his career at the Mexican National Banking Commission (CNBV), where he collaborated in the emission of electronic banking regulation that includes measures for making online and mobile bank transactions, implementation of branchless banking as a financial inclusion program and developing tools for the assessment of operational and technology risks on Financial Entities.

He also worked at a Fund Pension Administrator (Afore XXI Banorte) where he led the IT Governance area overseeing the Information Security and Personal Data Office, IT Service Administration, Help Desk, Project Management Office (PMO) and Quality Assurance of the main operation systems.

Alejandro is a Cybernetic and Systems Engineer, a graduate of La Salle University in México City.  He obtained an Economy Diploma from the Mexican Technology Institute (ITAM), as well as receiving Lead Auditor certifications in BS ISO 27001 and BS ISO 25999.
